But yeah, you're right Blizzard needs to stop milking their subscribers(!!!) for more money. If you want to charge people for in-game stuff, go micro transactions like Neverwinter. But don't make your customers pay for the game, pay for the monthly subscription and then pay for additional content. I've always like Blizzard, but their showing signs of EADS.

Re: World of Warcraft Mount: Armored Bloodwing

I didn't might so much when it was the stupid sparkly horse that even Elton John would have looked a bit too camp riding, but when it's a badass mount like that. pfff

Re: World of Warcraft Mount: Armored Bloodwing

I agree that owning a paid-for mount like that can leave somebody much less awestruck than if it were achieved from winning a roll on a rare drop, or carrying out a ridiculously long-winded task. It saddens me. I have been researching and so many are applauding and saying it was a waste of time. But I also was an outdoorsy kinda girl. Video games, outdoors, books, I was a perfect mix, but as of late, gaming and books give me nothing. I try all my old faves just to stop playing shortly after. I tried sims two and three, only to find after a few hours of building, I don't even make it to playing the actual game (which I wanted to so I could ride the horses lame I know) I love skyrim, but I haven't played that in about 4 months. Games, and books alike used to bring me such joy and stress relief, and now I find I'm depressed because I just can't get into it. WoW disappoints me, so i don't know why I bothered with that. I'm trying really hard. Minecraft doesn't do for me what it used to. And I'm not sure if its because of the games, or if it has to do with me. All I know, is I need some video game/book reading rehab. Get the joys back into my life (not saying they are the only joys, but they were a big part of who I am)

Re: Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Ooooft 5 stars!

Re: Call Of Duty – Casual Gaming To Blame?

I don't think that's strictly true. Even though there will be more appeal as the potential of new technologies are unlocked, it still doesn't say anything about the mindset of the gamer it attracts. It all comes down to the video games that they are exposed to, and what their own personal preferences are.

Re: Call Of Duty – Casual Gaming To Blame?

what im about to mention is more about the rise of casual gamers and cod, now we all no what Michael has said makes sense when was the last time u played a game that didn't involve playing it on insane just to make it a little harder for yourself. I have played the latest version of cod on the Xbox and had to do just that and even then i died once on the first level and that was me dicking about trying to use bear traps (aye bear traps)one thing i think we have forgot to mention with this game is the absurd amount of money they charge for more or less the same game for the last 3 titles expect with more up to date guns and more ridiculous perks and let us not forget we all have a complete tool of a "friend" that spends £160 on the collectors edition just because it has a fucking toy remote helicopter in it. My biggest pain in the arse problem is with the attitude that it also brings how many times have u got abuse down the mic or in a private message just because u killed someone 20 times or beat them on fifa,madden,NBA.....(other sporting titles, fill in the blanks) just because they play it once a week and i as a semi hardcore gamer (kid priorities) play it for atleast 10 hours a week so i no how the game go's. I will leave you with this last question to ask some of these lets call them "special people" that love cod so much.....why not BF3 (battlefield 3) is it because it takes skill? is it because u have to use bullet dip when using a sniper riffle not just a acog or reflex scope? is it because there is building destruction to stop camping? is it because u cant get ya jolly's off talking and harassing young kids on the mic? or is it just that u cant be arsed to learn how to play a game that actually involves skill?............

Re: Call Of Duty – Casual Gaming To Blame?

'kinell, this is an article for a Scientific Journal

Re: Call Of Duty – Casual Gaming To Blame?

Its more linking the rise in the casual gamer than the rise in the casual game. If anything the proliferation of fairly decent affordable games has made most people more fickle than ever and less likely to stick with a franchise that is getting worse and worse with each iteration. The sad fact of the matter is that the CoD games are almost always solidly made and fairly entertaining. It's the annual releases that have hurt CoD the most, leaving absolutely no room for innovation. I don't think the quality of the games has declined all that much - although CoD4 obviously remains the high watermark - it's just that they haven't changed at all. Playing the same game year after year is what turns hardcore fans off, while most folk are probably happy to get some new maps, modes and a new campaign - they'd probably be more pissed if CoD changed drastically.

Re: Dark Souls: First Impressions

Capra Demon for me like.

Re: Dark Souls: First Impressions

Love owt like this me.

Re: I’m Not Angry, Call Of Duty… I’m Just Disappointed.

While I agree with how you feel about the franchise and when its "golden era" truly was, I feel it's only because my experience of entering the online gaming circuit was nigh identical to yours. Being brutally honest, other than captivating us through our immense interest in the Second World War and using a heavily modded version of the successful id Tech "Quake" engine, Call of Duty didn't offer anything innovative or new to us as gamers. The first game I experienced ADS (Aim Down Sight) on was Vietcong earlier that same year. Thankfully, it was because WWII games are so popular that it because a colossal success and became one of the games of the year for 2003, essentially steering us to where we are today. Call of Duty 2 was equally, if not more, successful, but lest we forget the atrocity of Call of Duty 3, developed by Treyarch (the current developers). Arguably, this for me was the beginning of the end. The game was developed only for consoles and this was the first time it was taken out of the safe hands of Infinity Ward. A mistake, in my opinion, Activision should've learned a lesson from - but they only saw $$$. Consoles are where the profit is at, and you needn't look further than Modern Warfare 2 to see that the removal of dedicated servers in an online capacity for PC gamers was a clear indication that that is where they intended to go. To summarise, although I loved the series during its "golden era" as discussed and also view the franchise now with great disdain, I honestly don't think it was going to go any other way after Call of Duty 2 and don't find it surprising in the least that it now is where it is.

Re: Review: WRC 3 (PC)

You're wrong, I'm afraid. Codemasters don't make arcade racers, DiRT just happens to have arcade influence. What about their F1 franchise? That's a racing simulator, and that's a fact. Whilst it isn't a racing simulator to the extremes of Richard Burns Rally, it's still a racing simulator nonetheless.

I have played the WRC games since evolution studios did them, and I have played the majority of Codemasters' racing games throughout their many years of existence, and I believe that if Codemasters had the rights to WRC, then they'd realise that it needs to be a racing sim, and they'd treat it like they treat their F1 titles.

Codemasters have a good amount of rally fans amongst their ranks, and I doubt they would make a mockery out of one of the most exciting sports on the planet.

Whilst I commend Milestone's efforts of working with what little they have, I still wish for the franchise to be in better hands. I'm still not satisfied with the mechanics, and I'm far from satisfied with the visuals. It's just the hard truth of it all that the WRC isn't in good enough hands right now. The sport deserves a better video game representation, and I believe that Codemasters would be able to achieve this.

Re: I’m Not Angry, Call Of Duty… I’m Just Disappointed.

Eh, Scott, calm down lad!
